See Science is the STEM Ambassador Delivery Partner for Wales. We coordinate the STEM Ambassador programme in Wales to help inspire young people about STEM.
We keep schools in Wales informed about high-quality activities that they can access to enrich and enhance the STEM curriculum and enable them to use a range of STEM Ambassadors, so that teachers can incorporate into their teaching exemplary links to the world of work.

Who are STEM Ambassadors?
STEM Ambassadors volunteer their time and expertise to promote STEM to young people in original, creative, practical and engaging ways.
STEM Ambassadors are from a diverse range of backgrounds, representing a large number of different employers.
Amongst many other backgrounds and professions, our STEM Ambassadors include: environmental scientists, aerospace engineers, energy analysts, geologists, geneticists, nuclear physicists, chemical engineers, graphic designers, finance managers, architects, games designers, project managers, surveyors and medical professionals.
How do STEM Ambassadors make a difference?
They help open the doors to a world of opportunities and possibilities which come from pursuing STEM subjects and careers.
Research shows that STEM Ambassadors increase the ‘science capital’ of young people, enhance their engagement with STEM, raise their aspirations and help them to make informed decisions on STEM careers.
Whether you are an employer, teacher, community or youth group leader, or currently volunteer as a STEM Ambassador, we can support you.

Induction training for STEM Ambassadors
Induction training for STEM Ambassadors
All newly registered STEM Ambassadors are provided with a link to the Future Learn induction training. This is a series of online modules with certification on completion of training.
Please contact your STEM Ambassador Coordinator if you have not received the training link.
We also hold face to face training for employers and groups. A minimum number of attendees will be required. These sessions are optional extension training, and supplement the online induction course for all STEM Ambassadors.
Please contact the STEM Ambassador Coordinator to arrange a video link training session.
As a result of the Covid- 19 pandemic we now offer video call training by request.
As safe conditions allow, onsite training can be considered in accordance with Welsh Government regulations at that time.

We can offer training sessions at your place of work for 6 or more employees. These sessions are now also available as a video call. The session can cover mentor skills, presenter skills, how to develop interactive activities and exploring the STEM website – all of which will enhance your STEM Ambassador experience.
We regularly host networking and practical training sessions with a wide range of partners. If you are interested in developing your skills, learning to deliver a practical activity or extending your reach into schools and the community, read through the opportunities below. People Like Me Training
The People Like Me training campaign is aimed at girls aged 11-14 and demonstrates that STEM is for people like them.
STEM Ambassador Meet the Partner Training
We offer regular 'Meet the Partner' training designed to offer further training and opportunities to existing STEM Ambassadors with a range of guidance and tailored support.
Powerful Practicals
During the Powerful Practicals session you will identify and develop new practical activities and evaluate. This will help you to translate your own ideas into workshops that you could deliver to young people.
Mentoring Skills
Learn how to develop your skills as a mentor, test your communication skills and much more. This full day training is ideal for someone looking to work with a school or young person on a regular basis or is interested in becoming a CREST mentor online.
Lego Skills Training

DBS renewals for STEM Ambassadors
DBS renewals for STEM Ambassadors
You will receive notification from STEM Learning when your DBS certificate is due to expire. Please make sure you action what is required, even if your certificate is registered on the update service.

STEM Ambassadors should keep their profiles up to date by recording their 'activities'. There's guidance on how to upload future and past activities in this pdf.
If you log in to your STEM Ambassador profile you can upload STEM activities and also browse through 'live' requests and opportunities.
Finding STEM Ambassador opportunities
Finding STEM Ambassador opportunities
For opportunities in Wales and across the regional networks:
- Sign into your STEM Ambassador profile
- Click the 'Activities' dropdown box on the left side
- Filter and search by postcode radius, type of activity, including online activities or expertise (eg Engineering, Science etc)
- Click on the activity which appeals to you. The page opens up to give you more information. Then you can 'express interest' on the Activity page.
The person who has posted the request will contact you to discuss their request and make a plan. Don't forget you can always decline at any stage for any reason.

- Signing into your STEM Ambassador profile and using the 'Browse Activities' facility
